For the first, its definitely "no." For the second, I think the answer is the "no one".

It is an album that makes me feel like the person who created this could only be the kind of genius that'll go down in the annals of history.įor me, it is fitting this album begins and ends with questions that ended up having a deep thematic resonance to Kanye's career after this record: "Can we get much higher?" and "Who will survive in America?" I think the past 10 years have shown us the answers to those questions. Who thought of the drum pattern to "All of the Lights"? Who thought of the chorus of famous voices on "All of the Lights"? What about the vocoder outro for "Runaway"? Or the Chris Rock outro on "Blame Game"? It is an album that constantly awes you in its production, its features, its choices. Sure, this thing is loaded with samples and layers upon layers, but it all comes together as this one gorgeous tapestry that makes you scratch your head and wonder how the hell this was made. For a 68-minute long record, it never feels long or stuffed.
#KANYE WEST DARK FANTASY UNCENSORED ALBUM COVER FULL#
I think at that point, I had only listened to "808s & Heartbreak" and "Yeezus" in full before touching this. I think I came across the single version of "Runaway" at some point, but I know I didn't listen to this album in full until 2013. That was my first brush with MBDTF-era Kanye. But "Take One for The Team", that was a banger. I distinctly remember hating "The Joy": its slow, its kinda boring, and who the fuck is singing in the beginning because he kinda sucks. In an attempt to align with what the cool kids liked, I somehow ended up downloading "Take One For The Team" and "The Joy". One of my first experiences with MBDTF actually came from a song I downloaded when I was in middle school. An album whose sole purpose was to show the world that they could not live without Kanye West. A 68-minute long masterwork that cemented in his place in musical history and in popular culture. 10 years ago, Kanye West dropped his magnum opus.
